Vintage Mid-Century model nr. 3470 solid brass candle holders by Werkstätte Carl Auböck, circa 1940s-70s.

Werkstätte Carl Auböck has been in operation for over 100 years, and still produces Carl II’s designs to this day. 90% or so being Auböck II’s designs, along with new additions from his grandson, Carl IV.

Trained by his father, Karl Heinrich Auböck, Carl II went on to study at the Bauhaus, where he gained an aptitude for modern & expressionist forms and how to apply them in his choice medium; namely brass adorned with natural accents (cane/leather/etc). He is well known for his somewhat amorphic style, incorporating many curves and flowing shapes into ordinary objects, particularly small items like candleholders, bookends, paperweights and more.

This set is in good vintage condition and shows a wonderful patina, indicating their age and use. I am not sure of their exact age, but based on the estate they came from, I would estimate anywhere from the 1940s to the 1970s.
