Early production ‘Swan’ sofa manufactured by Fritz Hansen and designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1958.
- 56.7” W x 29.1” D x 31.3” H x 15.8” SH -
Contracted to design the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, Arne Jacobsen set out to creat what became the legendary ‘Swan’ chair and by extension, the ‘Swan’ sofa. One of the first Danish designs to use molded fiberglass, this classic sofa was far ahead of its time and maintains its incredibly modern-leaning aesthetic to this day. Rested atop a minimal, brushed aluminum sled frame to leave this Swan’s glide undisturbed.
Imported directly from Denmark circa 1965 by the original owner, both have seen their fair share of love and use. The original fabric is intact albeit discolored, but the foam has dried out. It is likely that everything will need to be replaced. The shells are intact although the wings on both have a bit of lateral movement, indicating a potential fracture.
These are highly collectible and worth every penny of the restoration cost, but both need to be completely redone. We offer ground-up restoration and can easily connect with an experienced upholsterer to bring these back to life.
